If you would like the ear curation service or custom jewellery ordered, a consultation is required.
-
Our piercing services are performed Wednesday to Saturday and are both prebooked and walk-in. We recommend calling ahead to make sure you get your desired time! An in-depth consultation at the beginning of your session will be done to check your anatomy is suited for the piercing you’re looking to get done. You’re perfect in every way, however sometimes the ledges we wish to pierce (on occasion) aren’t big enough to pierce safely.
You can also book a solo consultation which will allow you to choose custom jewellery if you wish. These are ordered from our suppliers and can take several weeks to arrive. Standard jewellery is always available, so you can book in to get your initial piercing while waiting for your custom order to arrive!

Healing your fresh piercing takes 8 weeks. In this time, you must not remove your jewelry. Booking a checkup at 5 weeks is highly recommended. Aftercare instructions are as follows.
Using ONLY sterile piercing aftercare spray, clean your piercing 2- 3 times per day.
Do not twist or turn your jewelry. Avoid touching your piercing unless cleaning it. Ensure you have washed your hands prior.
Avoid sleeping on your piercings. This is VERY important for cartilage piercings. Sleeping on your piercing will disrupt the healing process.
No swimming or submerging your piercing for a minimum of 2 weeks.
Keep make up, moisturizer, sunscreen and other skin products away from your piercing for the first 8 weeks.
PLEASE do not use products like Dettol, Teatree oil, Betadine or any other harsh antibacterial/antiseptic lotions.
For any questions about your piercing, please call the studio on (07) 3844 3268 or send us an email: infotailormadetattoo@gmail.com

It is usually placed in the outer corner or along the brow ridge and can be vertical or horizontal depending on the chosen look. Typical jewellery includes curved barbells or small rings. Healing time: 6-9months+
NOSE PIERCING BRISBANE
A nose piercing is a small, precise puncture through the nostril or septum to accommodate jewellery;

A bridge piercing is a surface piercing placed horizontally through the soft tissue on the bridge of the nose between the eyes. The jewellery used is a straight barbell with two visible ends either side of the tissue. Healing can be slower and carries higher risk of migration or rejection compared with traditional ear or facial piercings. Requires precise and proper aftercare, to be performed by an experienced piercer reduce complications. Healing time: 4-12 month+
LIP PIERCING BRISBANE
A lip piercing is a body piercing through the skin around the mouth, including variations such as the philtrum (centre of the upper lip under the nose), the labret (below the lower lip, centred or off-centre) and beauty spot piercings (small, decorative piercings placed to mimic a beauty spot on the cheek or near the mouth); all are typically fitted with studs or small rings and require careful aftercare to avoid infection and promote healing.
Vertical labret piercings are pierced vertically through the lip, instead of into the mouth, using a curved barbell for a comfortable and successful heal.
Other lip piercings: snake bite piercing, spider bite piercing, angel fang piercing, jestrum piercing, ashley piercing.
NAVEL OR BELLY BUTTON PIERCING BRISBANE
A navel (belly button) piercing is a popular surface piercing traditionally placed in the fold of skin above the navel. Other types of navel piercings include; floating navel piercing and lower navel piercing.
The piercing is typically done using jewellery such as a thick gauge curved barbell. Common sensations include brief sharp pain during the piercing and mild soreness, swelling or tenderness while it heals.
A floating navel piercing is similar to a traditional navel piercing with the key difference being the style of jewellery. This style of navel piercing is better suited to those who don’t have the anatomy for a traditional navel piercing. Healing time: 9-12 months+
Not everyone is suitable for a navel piercing — the shape and amount of skin above the belly button must allow the jewellery to sit correctly. Our professional piercer will check your anatomy, use sterile equipment, explain aftercare, and recommend appropriate jewellery for healing.
Understanding Ear Piercings:
Ear Tissue, Healing Times & Piercing Types
at Tailor Made Tattoo
When discussing ear piercings, you’ll often hear your piercer talk about soft tissue and cartilage. Understanding the difference can help you choose the right piercing and know what to expect during healing.
Soft Tissue (Earlobes)
The earlobe is the soft, fleshy part at the bottom of the ear. Because it has a strong blood supply, it generally heals faster and is considered one of the easiest piercings to heal.
Common lobe piercings:
* Standard Lobe – The traditional earlobe piercing.
Healing Time: Approximately 2-4 months
*Stacked lobe - Place above or in between traditional earlobe piercings
Healing Time: Approximately 4-6 months
Pain Level: Low
Healing Difficulty: Easy
Uncommon lobe piercing:
* Transverse Lobe – A modern variation where jewellery passes horizontally through the lobe.
Healing Time: 4-6 months
Pain Level: Low
Healing Difficulty: Moderate
Cartilage Piercings
Cartilage is the firmer tissue found throughout the upper and inner ear. These piercings often take longer to heal due to reduced blood flow compared to the earlobe.
Outer Ear Cartilage
* Helix – The outer rim of the ear.
* Forward Helix – The front section of the helix above the tragus.
* Flat – The broad, flat area inside the upper ear.
* Rook – The raised fold of cartilage inside the upper ear.
* Daith – The innermost fold just above the ear canal.
Inner Ear Cartilage
* Conch – The large bowl-shaped area in the centre of the ear.
* Tragus – The small cartilage flap covering the ear canal.
* Anti-Tragus – The small cartilage ridge opposite the tragus.
* Snug – The raised ridge running through the middle of the ear.
Combination Piercings
* Industrial – Two cartilage piercings connected by a single barbell, usually through the helix and forward helix.
Healing Time: Typically, 6–12 months
Pain Level: Mild to Moderate (varies by placement)
Healing Difficulty: Moderate to Advanced
Why Do Cartilage Piercings Take Longer to Heal?
Cartilage has less blood flow than the earlobe, which means the body repairs the area more slowly. Cartilage piercings also experience more pressure from sleeping, headphones, helmets and accidental bumps, all of which can extend healing times.
Choosing the Right Ear Piercing
If you’re new to piercings, lobe, helix and flat piercings are often great starting points. If you’re after something more unique, conch, daith, rook, snug and industrial piercings can create striking ear curation designs but generally require more patience during healing.
At Tailor Made Tattoo & Piercing Brisbane, our experienced piercers will assess your anatomy, discuss suitable jewellery options and help you choose piercings that will heal well and complement your ear shape.
